| Ryde Rail, as the line was known, uses trains built in 1938 for London Transport between Ryde Pier Head and Shanklin on the Isle of Wight. The 'new' stock replaced some even more elderly trains dating from 1924, also ex London Transport. The line itself is mainly single track and controlled by colour lights from Ryde St Johns signalbox, although a couple of semaphores remain at Ryde St Johns. |
