| Berwick is a great place to visit because it retains the rural charm of a small English country station and has a well kept signalbox with semaphores. It's on the line between Eastbourne and Lewes.
In January 2005 I visited Warnham [between Horsham and Dorking] and the signalbox here may close soon because installation work for new colour lights is under way. Warnham box dates from 1877 and has 20 levers, and the station itself is a delightful country station. The box at neighbouring Holmwood has already closed, also dating from 1877. |
